The teenage years are filled with all kinds of problems.
Most teenagers worry about how they look, and very few are satisfied with their appearance. Their bodies are going through a time of change that can be difficult. Their self-confidence can drop if they are not happy with the way they look. Parents should avoid ignoring something that worries a teenager but seems unimportant to an adult.
To their parents, teenagers often seem lazy. Parents are driven crazy by the mess their teenage children leave behind. Teenagers don't do it. It is just that their thoughts are on other things most of the time.
Communication between parents and children is hardest when the children become teenagers. Parents should try to let teenagers do things in their own way and time, and be ready to offer help and advice when it is needed.
