Everyone loves to hear or read a good story. Short stores are a favorite because they don’t take long to read or tell, and they are the perfect length to read on a bus trip or to listen to just before going to bed. There are a number of different types of short stories: myths, folk tales, fairy tales, and fables. Each type has special qualities which make them different than the others.
Myths are traditional stories that grow up from actual historical events. They try to explain why things today are as they are. They will explain how a mountain came to exist in a particular place, or why people in a society think of act in a certain way. They remain myths and are not facts because no one can prove that they are true. Mythology is a good example.
