There is clear evidence that pollution affects frogs in various ways. Chemicals used in agriculture often find their way into rivers and lakes where baby frogs, called tadpoles, live. A number of new diseases have developed among frog populations, and some of these may be a result of human activities such as industry.
Frogs like to make noise. It is very important part of their breeding behavior. If there are humans nearby, there will be less noise from the frogs. So, higher noise levels from humans may be contributing to the fall in frog populations. Many scientists worry that frogs act as a sign of the general condition of the environment. Where frogs die off, other groups of animals and plants may soon follow.:(
