%%- 7 day itch...i said i'd be back, and soon, didn't i? %%- in multi-racial country Malaysia, the 3 main ethnic groups, Malays, Chinese, and Indians all have their own political parties, namely, UMNO, MCA, and MIC respectively. how the names came about? when the nation was formed in 1948, leaders of 3 groups met for an English afternoon tea and discussed how to best name their parties Malay leader: we account for half the population. we're the majority and whatever we say, You Must Not Object. hmmm..."U M N O" then Chinese leader: though we only account for 1/3 of the population, we have economic power and Money Conquers All. ok..."M C A" it is Indian leader: in future parliament sessions, you 2 control everything and i have no say. so Must I Come? ah..."M I C"!!! %%- United Malays National Organization Malaysian Chinese Association Malaysian Indian Congress
