there're about 90 of us in the 2 graduating classes the year i graduated in my high school in a former british colony. there's back then only 1 university in the whole nation. and not too many local students were keen on going to university anyway
but 30 of us did it. one attended the local university. 29 went abroad
out of 30, 3 got phd's, all now professors. 5 became medical doctors, all still practicing and 2 of them are specialists. 3 got master's. and there's 1 veterinarian
not bad at all, academically
i drove 70 kilometers to airport to meet 1 of them today. he's my ex-roommate who's here in transit with his wife on way back to australia from an asia trip
he'd been a big IT firm's research head till becoming a professor 3 years ago
we chatted for 1 hour in a coffee shop, on present, future, investment, children...
