Because of the rapid growth of population in the past century, large areas of natural forest have been destroyed for human activities, such as agriculture and habitation. It’s a rare variety of fish and on its way to becoming extinct. In developing Taiwan’s economy, more farms and plants are built up in the mountain areas, the streams of which the salmon naturally live in. This development and growth has therefore made changes to the natural home of the fish. Not only in their habitat shrinking, but it is being destroyed as well.
