In spite of the impressive progress made by Taiwan in past decades, there remains much too much to be desired and improved.

The investigation of Corporal Hong's death revealed not only inefficiency but also cover-up of truth by the military, and the lack of authority and capability of minister and even the president in their effort to crack the case.
