撒萊苦待夏甲
4.亞伯蘭與夏甲同房，夏甲就懷了孕；她見自己有孕，就小看她的主母。
He slept with Hagar, and she conceived. When she know she was pregnant, she began to despise her mistress.
5.撒拉對亞伯蘭說：「我因你受屈。我將我的使女放在你懷中，她見自己有了孕，就小看我。願耶和華在你我中間判斷。」
Then Sarai said to Abram, 「You are responsible for the wrong I am suffering. I put my slave in your arms, and now that she knows she is pregnant, she despises me. May the LORD judge between you and me.」
6.亞伯蘭對撒萊說：「使女在你手下，你可以隨意待她。」撒萊苦待她，她就從撒萊面前逃走了。
「Your slave is in your hands,」 Abram said. 「Do with her whatever you think best.」 Then Sarai mistreated Hagar; so she fled from her.
7.耶和華的使者在曠野書珥路上的水泉旁遇見她，
The angel of the LORD found Hagar near a spring in the desert; it was the spring that is beside the road to Shur.
8.對她說：「撒萊的使女夏甲，你從哪裏來？要往哪裏去？」夏甲說：「我從我的主母撒萊面前逃出來。」
And he said, 「Hagar, slave of Sarai, where have you come from, and where are you going?」 「I’m running away from my mistress Sarai,」 she answered.
9.耶和華的使者對她說：「你回到你主母那裏，服在她手下」；
Then the angel of the LORD told her, 「Go back to your mistress and submit to her.」
10.又說：「我必使你的後裔極其繁多，甚至不可勝數」；
The angel added, 「I will increase your descendants so much that they will be too numerous to count.」
11.並說：「你如今懷孕要生一個兒子，可以給他起名叫以實瑪利【就是 神聽見的意思】，因為耶和華聽見了你的苦情。
The angel of the LORD also said to her: 「You are now pregnant and you will give birth to a son. You shall name him Ishmael,[a] for the LORD has heard of your misery.

12.他為人必像野驢。他的手要攻打人，人的手也要攻打他；他必住在眾弟兄的東邊。」
He will be a wild donkey of the man; his hand will be against everyone and everyone’s hand against him, and he will live in hostility toward[b] all his brothers.」

13.夏甲就稱那對她說話的耶和華為「看顧人的 神」。因而說：「在這裏我也看見那看顧我的嗎？」
She have this name to the LORD who spoke to her: 「You are the God who sees me,」 for she said, 「Ｉ have now seen[c] the One who sees me.」

14.所以這井名叫庇耳．拉海．萊。這井正在加低斯和巴列中間。
That is why the well was called Beer Lahai Roi[d]; it is still there, between Kadesh and Bered.

15.後來夏甲給亞伯蘭生了一個兒子；亞伯蘭給他起名叫以實瑪利。
So Hagar bore Abram a son, and Abram gave the name Ismael to the son she had borne.
16.夏甲給亞伯蘭生以實瑪利的時候，亞伯蘭年八十六歲。
Abram was eighty-six years old when Hagar bore him Ishmael. |
